GUYANA - The Guyanese government announced that it has launched an investigation into videos circulating on social media that allegedly depict a sexual assault.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs expresses grave concern over the circulation of explicit videos on various social media platforms, which appear to document an alleged sexual assault involving a female victim,” the ministry said in a statement.
It added that, given the seriousness of the matter, the Guyana Police Force has launched a formal investigation in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.
“We urge members of the public to refrain from sharing these videos out of respect for the victim and to preserve the integrity of the investigation,” the statement continued, without providing further details about the content of the videos.
“The Guyana Police Force is actively working to identify and make contact with the victim involved in the incident,” the ministry added, urging members of the public with any relevant or helpful information to contact the police. (Jamaica Gleaner)
