The Police Force Suriname  (KPS) reportedly received fewer calls on New Year’s Eve. On December 31st, 2024 the police received 191 calls in total. About 54.97% of those calls were about brawls, fights between neighbors, the removal of drunkards and vandalism. The police also received calls about traffic accidents and traffic collisions. On January 1st, 2025 the police received 226 calls which required the intervention of the police. On December 31st, 2023 the police had received 226 calls in total. The police urge everybody to obey the law and to only call the Command Center in case of a real emergency.
