76-year-old Chinese businessman admits killing boy, 6

A 76-year-old Chinese businessman, Quan Sheng Li has reportedly confessed to killing a six-year-old boy over a US$3 million dispute with his parents.

The six-year-old-boy, Ifeng Cao was killed at Parika, East Bank Essequibo on Wednesday afternoon. Initial enquiries revealed that at about 15:45hrs, the child sustained a chop wound to his neckPolice arrested the prime suspect, the 76-year-old Chinese businessman and he reportedly led them to the Parika junction to recover the weapon he had used to allegedly kill the boy. Investigators recovered a brown-handled chopper.

The businessman later confessed to killing the boy over a money dispute he had with the boy’s parentsHe claimed he had invested some money into their business and they were refusing to pay him back. On the day he killed Cao, he had gone there to collect the money and ended up in an argument with the parents. They reportedly chased him out. As he was leaving the child was arriving from school.

It was during that encounter that he killed the boy. The businessman reportedly told police that he fired a chop to the child somewhere between his shoulder and his head and then walked out of their yard. Investigations continue. (Kaieteur News)
