He was arrested on Sunday after having been involved in a serious traffic accident that took place in the Krakaweg in the Para District. The results of the preliminary investigation indicated that the Zanderij Police Station received a call about the traffic accident around 17:05 last Sunday. When police officers arrived at the scene, they spotted a white Toyota Noah alongside the street near a ditch. WK was sitting in the driver’s seat and there were three other people in the vehicle. All three passengers were taken to the hospital. The driver who told the police that he was not injured in the accident did not have a driver’s license so he was arrested. He was initially put in a jail cell at the Zanderij Police Station but started misbehaving so he was transferred to the Rijsdijk Police Station. The next day around 9:10 he was found dead in the jail cell. The suspect had evidently taken his own life. This is the second time within a short period that a suspect was found dead in a jail cell. About two weeks ago a suspect who was arrested after having gone on a deadly stabbing spree was found dead in his jail cell at a police station located in Paramaribo.
