who added that the financial aid for people with disabilities has been raised to SRD 2,750. The government has also given the green light for financial aid of SRD 800 to students who are older than 18 years. These decisions were made at a meeting of the state council that took place on March 5th.

“The government keeps giving back to the community.” It is the fifth time that the administration of President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and Vice President Ronnie Brunswijk has raised the old age pension. When this administration came into office the old age pension was SRD 525.  The raise for welfare for people with disabilities is the result of various requests from that target group and this administration’s promise to strengthen the social policy and to support the people.

 President Santokhi emphasized that his administration takes the challenges of people with disabilities seriously.
