Bag of condoms leads to 4 arrests

PARAMARIBO – Four suspects were recently arrested for their alleged involvement in a sex crime. Police reports indicate that the victim is an underage girl.

Times of Suriname

The police launched an investigation after a relative of the victim had pressed charges at a police station in the Commewijne District  in July. The relative noticed that her underage niece was acting strange so she started asking questions but the girl was clearly trying to avoid having to give answers.  After a while a young man namely N who is also one of the suspects gave the girl’s aunt a bag of condoms. When the woman asked N where he had obtained the bag of condoms, he did not reply. N did, however, tell the woman that he had seen her niece entering an abandoned house with an unknown man. The woman then asked N to accompany her to the Marienburg police station but he refused so the woman went alone. Shortly after the woman had pressed charges the police arrested two suspects namely R.L. and R.K. After a while N.S. and D.R. who are both 19 years of age were also taken into police custody. All 4 suspects were handed over to the Juvenile Delinquency Department of the Police Force Suriname (KPS). The police do not rule out more arrests.
