Jose Antonio Rodrigues Dos Santos, age 58 years, and Isac Aguiar Abreu, age 36 years, both miners from Boa Vista, Brazil, were arrested on 22-09-2025 and charged with the offence of ‘Purchasing Gold from a Person other than the Board or Agent authorized by the Board’, contrary to Section (7)(2) of the Guyana Gold Board Act, Chapter 66:01, in contravention to Section 23 of the Guyana Gold Board Act, Chapter 66:01. The two defendants appeared at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday before His Worship Magistrate Omadatt Chandan, where the charge was read, separately, to them. (Kaieteur News)
