Businessman granted $100,000 bail on illegal ammo possession charge

GUYANA - A 32-year-old businessman was placed on $100,000 bail last Monday after he was charged with the unlawful possession of ammunition without being the holder of a firearm license.

The accused, Deodnauth Lall of Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast, was arrested on April 10, 2025, after he was reportedly found in possession with several rounds of ammunition without holding a valid firearm licence. Lall appeared before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.  The matter has been adjourned to May 20, 2025, for further proceedings. (Kaieteur News)
