Chinese embassy slams Marco Rubio's statements

PARAMARIBO - The Chinese embassy in Suriname recently urged the United States of America to seriously reconsider its own dominant actions, intimidating practices and exploitation of developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Times of Suriname

“We also demand that the US must stop falsifying the facts while spreading false accusations against China. The US Secretary of State  Marco Rubio who paid a quick visit to Suriname  Thursday made baseless and inappropriate accusations about the practical collaboration between China and the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Chinese embassy in Suriname made it clear that China has always stuck to the principles of mutual respect, equality and inclusiveness with regards to investment collaboration with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The collaboration with China is free from political terms, does not focus on third parties and meets the demands of the Latin American countries.

This partnership is based on mutual benefits and win-win results.  This partnership also effectively contributes to the economic development and the improvement of living standards in these countries including Suriname.  It benefits the local community and improves the people's wellbeing in a visible manner. According to the spokesperson of the embassy, the United States on the other hand are making baseless comments about the usual collaboration between Latin American countries and third parties which is evident of a lack of respect for these countries. The baseless accusations against China and the deliberate attempts to drive a wedge between China and the Latin American countries will not be successful because they are not popular. It is clear to everyone who is in fact resorting to hard diplomacy and exploitation of resources in Latin America.
