surgery, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to providing comprehensive weight loss solutions. The surgery was executed by American-trained and board-certified surgeon, Dr. Stephen S. Carryl MD, FACS. The hospital said the ground-breaking procedure offers new hope for individuals struggling with weight management. “The surgery follows the hospital’s first weight loss education seminar held in the June 2025, which led to the formation of a weight loss support group managed by the DMH’s medical team,” the hospital said in a release.

According to the hospital, bariatric surgery is a life-changing procedure designed for individuals who have faced persistent challenges with weight loss despite years of dieting and exercise. This type of surgery is a safe and effective tool that facilitates significant weight reduction by altering the digestive process. It is not only a pivotal step for weight management but also plays a crucial role in enhancing overall health by reducing risks associated with obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea. “This surgery offers a new lease on life for patients who have struggled with weight issues,” Dr. Royston Adonis, medical director of Davis Memorial Hospital relayed. “Our goal is to provide a supportive environment that empowers individuals to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes and improved health outcomes.”

The hospital said it is now accepting consultations for individuals interested in exploring bariatric surgery as a viable option for weight management. The institution said it ensures competitive pricing and offers a variety of payment plans to accommodate different financial situations. Interested patients are encouraged to schedule an appointment with specialists to discuss eligibility and personalised treatment plans. (Kaieteur News)
