PARAMARIBO — Detectives from the Paramaribo Police Department seized five boats donated by China last Thursday. Reports indicate that the Public Prosecution Office ordered the seizure.
The police initiated an investigation after the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (LVV) reported the boats stolen on August 29. These boats were donated to the LVV by the People's Republic of China in 2021. The investigative team managed to locate the boats at a storage facility in Wanica District. No arrests have been made yet. The investigation is ongoing.
