GUYANA - Two young men were remanded to prison last Thursday for the murder of a Cuban national during a robbery last Sunday in Melanie, East Coast Demerara.

The defendants are: 20-year-old Tyrese Blair of Lot 44 Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and 21-year-old Omar Bacchus of Lot 121 Paradise Housing Scheme, ECD. They appeared before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
They were not required to plea to the indictable charge which alleges that on April 13, 2025 at Melanie Market Road, ECD, they murdered 54-year-old Jose Aurelio Ramirez during the course or furtherance of a robbery. Blair was represented by Attorney-at law Adrian Thompson, while Bacchus was unrepresented. Magistrate Scarce remanded Blair and Bacchus until their next court appearance, which is scheduled for May 22, 2025. (Kaieteur News)
