PARAMARIBO – The Economic Control Division (ECD) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (EZ) recently inspected various supermarkets...

that had placed claw machines near the entrance. The owners of the supermarkets reportedly did not have a permit for these claw machines and they also did not have any information about the owner of the claw machines that they had rented. They have therefore been given a stern warning by the ECD and are no longer allowed to put claw machines inside or outside their supermarkets. The ECD also seized cigarettes from different brands at a supermarket located in the Kasabaholoweg because it is suspected that these cigarettes were smuggled into the country. An investigation has been launched to find out who smuggled these cigarettes into Suriname. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation urges retailers to follow the instructions of the ECD inspectors at all times.
