judges to help out with the backlog. These candidates have been waiting to be sworn in since June. MP Krishna Mathoera (VHP) who finds the delay utterly incomprehensible brought the issue under the attention of parliament and asked when the government will actually commence with the installation of the new judges. She pointed out that the president herself had recently indicated that trials are taking too long and that citizens unnecessarily have to wait too long for a verdict. MP Mathoera made it clear that these candidates are competent and ready to start working. After the candidates have been sworn in by the president and installed by the Court of Justice, they can start decreasing the backlog of court cases. Home Affairs (BIZA) Minister Marinus Bee gave his assurance that the installation of the new judges would take place and explained that the paperwork is being taken care of. The Council of Ministers has already given its approval to the recommendations of the minister of Justice and Safety. “It is just a matter of time before the judges will be installed”, said Minister Bee.
