the Fire Department Suriname (KBS) are currently fighting the stubborn fire that has flared up...

again at the garbage dump located at Charlesburg day and night. Last week the Fire Department Suriname had announced that the fire was under control but the flames that were hidden underneath all of the garbage have made their way to the surface at several locations. The water that the firefighters spray on the garbage can’t reach the bottom which is why the plastic garbage keeps smouldering and eventually erupts into flames. In order to combat the fire effectively, the Fire Department Suriname works 24/7 and uses heavy machines to take the garbage mountains apart in order to reach the smouldering garbage so that it can be extinguished with water. The Fire Department Suriname explained that the situation at the garbage dump shows how complicated things can get when garbage is set on fire. Firefighters will keep doing their job until all of the flames have been extinguished at the garbage dump.
