GUYANA - The family of Adriana Younge has an-nounced the postponement of her funeral, which had been scheduled to take place on Monday. In a statement released to the public, Adriana’s mother shared the reasons behind the family’s difficult deci-sion.
“My heart is shattered beyond words,” the statement said.
“As a mother there is no pain greater than losing your child - she was my heartbeat, my everything.”
Adriana Younge, described by her family as “the light of our lives,” passed away recently in circumstances that have prompted an outpouring of national sympathy and support. Tributes have flooded in from friends, the public and community leaders, all of whom have spoken of Adriana’s warmth, compassion, and the lasting impression she left on those around her.
Her mother expressed deep gratitude for the “messages, prayers, hugs and tears shared,” noting that they had helped carry the family through their darkest hours. “I’ve felt the arms of this nation around me,” she said, “and I am so deeply grateful.”
Citing the need for “space and clarity” during their grieving process, the family made what they described as a “painful decision” to delay the funeral. “Please know this was not easy,” the statement reads, “but we want to honour her with the peace, love and the dignity she deserves.”
New arrangements for the funeral will be announced in due course. In the meantime, the family has asked for continued prayers and understanding from the public.
“My baby girl touched so many hearts,” her mother concluded. “And that love — your love — is helping us find strength. Thank you from the depths of a mother’s heart.” (Newsroom)
