The people made it clear that they want the authorities to address these desecrations. Kasandarwi told Times of Suriname that a homeless man resided at the cemetery but that they did not see him anywhere when they visited the cemetery recently. He made it clear that there is no evidence that suggests that the homeless man is responsible for the acts of vandalism. “Everybody is innocent until proven guilty,” said the deputy inspector who urged the people who complained about the acts of vandalism to press charges so that the police can take action.
