Due to security reasons, Parmessar could not divulge the names of the foreign guests. Last Wednesday Parmessar and the other members of the special committee visited the Anthony Nesty Sports Hall for an inspection. Parmessar pointed out that the sports hall will be transformed for the ceremony.
“We want to give the inauguration of the first female president an extra shine. We want to organize more than just a ceremony. We want to organize a lasting investment in the nation,” said the chairman of the special committee who added that the work must be finished before July 16th. Meanwhile the Presidential Palace has been cleaned thoroughly. The Independence Square and the surrounding area have also been given a face lift. Last Wednesday the Police Force Suriname (KPS) also had a few rehearsals for the big day.
