Isaacs: “All hands on deck”

PARAMARIBO - In the days leading up to Election Day, May 25th, the members of the Police Force Suriname (KPS), the National Army (NL),

the Prison Guards' Corps (KPA) and other armed forces will work together to guarantee the safety of the citizens of Suriname. The objective is to make sure that people can cast their vote in an orderly and safe environment. 

People who were recently trained to become deputized police officers will also be deployed. During a press briefing the KPS emphasized that the safety of the citizens remains a top priority at all times. The people are being urged to cooperate by behaving themselves properly and to respect  and support each other. About a year ago the police  force started with the preparations for Election Day.

Police Commissioner Korpschef Bryan Isaacs pointed out that all of the available capacity is being mobilised so that the elections could go smoothly and for the elections to remain safe. “It's all hands on deck,” said the police commissioner.
