GUYANA - Two international dancehall artists, Vybz Kartel and Spice, paid emotional tribute to 11-year-old Adriana Younge during the Badderation concert ...

held last Saturday night at the National Stadium in Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Younge’s mysterious death has gripped the nation and drawn international attention. The young girl was reported missing on April 23 during a family outing at the Double Day International Hotel and Bar in Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo. Nearly 20 hours later, she was discovered dead in the hotel’s swimming pool. According to the family, after Younge went missing, multiple searches were conducted around the hotel grounds, including the pool area, but she was not found. When her body was eventually discovered, her father, Subryan Younge, retrieved it from the water. Family members observed that her body bore marks on the knees, elbows, face, hands, and toes. She was also found in a standing position in the pool, with no signs of bloating, which are typically associated with drowning.
Three international pathologists determined that the child died from drowning. However, no determination was made regarding the time of death or whether pool water or tap water was discovered inside of the child’s lungs. Public outrage has mounted in response to the handling of the investigation, with many Guyanese at home and abroad, along with international supporters, calling for transparency and justice. Vigils, marches, and other memorials have been held in Adriana’s honour across various countries.
During the early hours of Sunday morning at the concert, artistE Spice, whose real name is Grace Latoya Hamilton took a moment to speak directly to the audience about Adriana. She said: “I have been seeing a lot of things on social media, and I’m a mother. My son is 17 and my daughter is 14. So I want to take this opportunity to speak on Adriana. Adriana, I love you, and I just want to dedicate this moment of my show to chant Adriana. My heart goes out to Adriana.” Spice then led the crowd in chanting Adriana’s name before performing a gospel song in tribute. (Kaieteur News/Potsalt Media & Events)
