PARAMARIBO - Last Sunday 40-year-old I.T. was arrested at his home address and charged with making threats, aggravated assault and attempted murder. The 35-year-old victim, V.L., who had pressed charges against him at the Livorno Police Department earlier that day is his ex girlfriend.
She and the suspect had been together for 14 years and they have two children. But because the suspect is often under the influence of alcohol, she decided to end the relationship. On July 17th the suspect went to the house of his ex partner to visit his children. After a while he brought his ex to a local store to buy some groceries but when they were in the store they started arguing with each other. After they had returned to the woman’s house, he pushed her and she fell and the floor. While she was on the floor, he punched her head and he also kicked her in her belly. The suspect then processed to choke her with his hands. The victim’s sister and a female neighbor rushed to her aid and managed to get the suspect off of her. Several relatives then escorted the victim to the local police station to press charges against her ex boyfriend. The suspect is currently in jail awaiting trial. The investigation is ongoing.
