Man shoots at wife with hunting rifle

WANICA – Last Saturday officers from the Santo Boma Police Station arrested a 57-year-old man. RP, was arrested over a shooting incident.

Reports indicate that the suspect had shot at his wife with his hunting rifle. No injuries were reported but two houses and a vehicle sustained bullet holes. According to the preliminary results of the investigation the man and his wife have been dealing with serious problems for several years. Four years ago their daughter left the house she grew up in because of the quarrels at home between her parents. The suspect’s had also left the house and had moved in with her brother but returned home in September 2025. Tensions flared up again last Saturday. The quarrel escalated when the man grabbed his hunting rifle before aiming it at his wife. The woman fled to her neighbour’s house when she saw her husband with his hunting rifle. The suspect fired two shots at his wife. Fortunately the woman remained unharmed but her neighbour’s car, house and a house that is located nearby had multiple bullet holes after the shooting. After the man had fired his hunting rifle,he returned home and aimed his weapon at his head in an attempt to take his own life. A police officer who probably lives nearby and who was the first to arrive on the scene, managed to save the suspect. He disarmed the suspect before calming him down and arrest ing him. RP is currently in jail awaiting trial.
