PARAMARIBO - Early Monday morning propagandists from the National Democratic Party (NDP) cut off a delivery van along the Waterkant. The van which was reportedly transporting three ballot boxes was on its way to the Office of the President.

The people who were in the delivery van claimed that they did not know where they had to deliver the ballot boxes so the propagandists escorted their van to the National Indoor Stadium (NIS) where the ballot boxes from all of the polling stations must be delivered. Reports indicate that the ballot cards were counted incorrectly at several polling stations because the representatives from the political parties and the workers at the polling stations sat too far from each other.
There was a distance of about five meters between both parties which made it difficult to keep track of all of the votes that each candidate had received. Some candidates officially had zero votes although voters had voted for them. The voters who noticed this discrepancy expressed their shock and voices their concerns. “How is it possible that multiple people voted for the same person but that that person had zero votes at the end of the day?” The preliminary reports also indicate that the number of people who showed up at the polling station to vote and the number of votes that were counted do not match. The people who were at the polling stations to keep an eye on things expressed their concerns and are puzzled by the fact that more votes were counted than the number of people who were actually registered. At one of the polling stations 268 votes were counted although 251 voters showed up at that station on Election Day.
