Nesbeth hails the ‘side chick’

JAMAICA - Reggae artiste Nesbeth has dropped a lyrical bombshell with his latest single, provocatively entitled Side Chicks Save Nuff Relationship.

Times of Suriname

The song, released on the popular 2 Time rhythm, itself has ignited fierce debate across social media, radio airwaves, and even among relationship experts. The single is a thought-provoking exploration of contemporary relationships, layered with irony, realism, and social commentary.

“Mi nuh seh cheat, mi seh truth,” Nesbeth said. “Plenty man out deh loyal to dem woman emotionally, but find peace elsewhere physically. A nuff side chick a save marriage, believe it or not.” He is pleased with the initial response to the song so far on online forums and social media pages. “The song has provoked a lively debate and we like the energy that the discussion is bringing,” Nesbeth said.

With a gritty beat and unapologetic bars, the song explores the unspoken and often taboo idea that side chicks can actually help keep main relationships afloat. Far from promoting infidelity, Nesbeth claims the track is meant to “expose the reality plenty people living, but nah talk ‘bout”. The reaction has been explosive. “Nesbeth just said what 90 per cent of di man dem living,” one fan tweeted. Another commenter posted: “Can’t lie, this beat go hard — but I don’t want my girl hearing this!”

Known for blending street culture with social commentary, Nesbeth isn’t new to controversy. But this song might be his most polarising yet — and possibly his most impactful. Throughout his career, Nesbeth has built a brand rooted in authenticity, cultural consciousness, and lyrical integrity. With songs like My Dream, Remove My Enemies, and Blood Letter, Nesbeth has championed self-belief, disloyalty and social justice. (Jamaica Observer)
