that were hired by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture often do not show up at work which is why the schools are not being guarded. They pointed out that “it is a dangerous situation.” “When there is no security guard, unauthorized people can easily enter the school premises. We fear that intruders could seized this opportunity to break in and destroy public property,” said one of the principals. The principals explained that the schools have valuable goods such as computers, books and furniture. If these goods are stolen, the students will be the ones who will ‘suffer’ as a result of the situation. The strange thing is that the security guards receive payment although they do not report for duty. “They receive their salaries but fail to do the job that they were hired to do,” said another principal. The principals urge the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture to take firm action against this dereliction of duty. They made it clear that inspectors must visit the schools to verify if the security guards are actually at their designated work stations. The principals also want the Ministry of Education to take disciplinary action against employees who fail to do their job.
