PARAMARIBO – The problem surrounding the enrollment of 4-year-olds in schools still has not been solved. Dozens of parents do not know what to do next but...

they made it clear that they fear that their child will lose a whole school year. The parents who work every day pointed out that the situation will become extremely difficult because they not only have to go looking for a school but they will also have to look for transportation for their child. Some parents have already found a spot for their child but at a school that is located far from their home. “You are glad when you finally find a school but than the next problem pops up”, said one of the parents. It is not easy to find reliable transportation for their child and not every school bus drives to another neighborhood or area. Most of these parents cannot drop off or pick their child up from school. The parents made it clear that they do not want their child to fall behind and that they child is in an important phase for their development. They made it clear that 4-year-olds should find a school in their neighborhood. They therefore hope that additional spots will be made available near their home.
