political parties evidently only reeled in 1 vote. This means that not even their relatives, friends, coworkers, neighbors or partners voted for them. People from all over the country could vote for candidates from other districts as part of the new electoral system but these candidates did not manage to reel in votes nationwide. These candidates could not convinced their relatives, friends, coworkers, neighbors or partners to vote for them. One of the candidates who only got one vote expressed his disappointment over the fact that his own housemates did not vote for him. “Not even my housemates voted for me,” said the  candidate in disbelief. He explained that it did not come as a surprise as he had seen it coming.

“Some of these candidates are youths who just wanted to join the race to gain some experience,” said a student who added that “it does not mean that they lack potential but that it just shows that they need to be better prepared.”
