because of alleged fraudulent actions. The complaint that was filed via the law firm Kanhai N.N. claims that these government officials committed fraud with the Apoera Southdrain road rehabilitation project. 42 million. This huge difference has raised a lot of questions within OPTSU which is why this political bloc decided to take legal action. The complaint also refers to the Anti Corruption Act. The entire project would be financed with money from the draft budgets of 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029. According to OPTSU, these budgets do not exist which is why the legitimacy of the procedures surrounding this project is being questioned. “We live in a democracy so everyone has the right to go to the judge if they believe that they were wronged. We know that we acted in accordance with the rules and procedures and we have all of the documents to prove that,” said Agriculture Minister Permanand Sewdien in response to the complaint.
