Police officer locates stolen vehicle

PARAMARIBO - Last Friday a police officer managed to locate a stolen vehicle in the Welgelegenstraat.

CC reportedly spotted the stolen white Toyota Vitz after it had been reported stolen via the official police channels. He then notified the Kwatta Police Station. Police units were assigned to recover the stolen vehicle and to search for clues in the area. The stolen vehicle which had been covered with a black sheet was parked in the garage of a private residence. The six people who were at the private residence claimed that they did not know anything about the stolen vehicle but were arrested and taken to the police station for questioning. Last Saturday 57-year-old LA, 25-year-old IO, 31-year-old AE, 42-year-old RM and 42-year-old GO were arraigned. AE, RM and GO are still in jail while the other suspects were released. The police also found spare parts from other cars in the garage and are currently trying to track down the rightful owners. The investigation is ongoing.
