is located on the premises of the Geyersvlijt Police Station. No arrests have been made.Detectives from the capital Crimes Division also questioned firefighters who are stationed at the Geyersvlijt Fire Station. All of the officers who are stationed at the Fraud Division and who are in charge of investigations into seized goods were also questioned. Investigators are trying to figure out if police officers were involved in the disappearance of the cylinders that contained mercury. The detectives did not rule out the possibility that several arrests will be made soon. The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the premises of the Geyersvlijt Police Station lacks adequate security because the fence is damaged at multiple spots and because there also is no gate. Outsiders can reportedly enter the premises from all sides. At the end of May the theft of 11 of the 14 cylinders that contained mercury came to light. The cylinders had been confiscated by the police before being stored in the shipping container at the Geyersvlijt Police Station. Justice and Police Minister Harish Monorath strongly condemned the theft and made it clear that the theft tarnishes the reputation of the entire police force.
