One of the drug houses is located in the vicinity of the police station. For the past couple of years the local community knew that drugs were sold at that house. The police raids are part of an operation aimed at tackling the drug trade which has become a nuisance in the various neighborhoods in the  Coronie District. When a police unit raided the house located at a distance of 700 meters from the police station, they found and seized drugs and arrested one suspect. The police also raided a second house that is located in the   Duitsweg. The second house is also known as a drug houses. The police arrested the  married couple that lives in that house. A unspecified amount of drugs was also found and seized  in the second house. All 3 suspects are currently in jail awaiting trial.
