“Pupils still come to school without bread”

Teachers from various primary schools located in Flora and Ephraimzegen recently pointed out that there are still children who do not come to school with bread or something else to eat.

The pupils also do not come to school with something to drink. The teachers made it clear that  parents must not count on the school to give their children food and drinks because the school only receives three breads to hand out to pupils who need one. “I know what it is like to sit in a classroom with an empty stomach. Sometimes I even have to share my bread with the pupils. I have repeatedly urged parents to make sure that their children come to school with a sandwich and something to drink but those pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” said a teacher who added that there are 2 pupils in her class who rarely attend school with a drink and food. “My heart bleed every time I see that a 6-year-old child doesn't even bring a piece of bread to school and I often wonder why parents do not make an effort to provide food to their children when they send them to school.”
