Roraima Airways commissions 2 new Technam P2012 aircraft

GUYANA   -  Roraima Airways commissioned two new twin-engine Technam P2012 aircraft last Saturday, which it acquired from Italy.

The Technam P2012 aircraft was commissioned at the Roraima Airways Hangar at the Ogle Airport, East Coast Demerara (ECD). Attending the simple, yet significant, ceremony was Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, EU Ambassador to Guyana, René Van Nes, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Lt. Col. Egbert Field, Chief Investment Officer at the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, Captain Gerry Gouveia Jr. and Captain Gerry Gouveia, to name a few.

According to information provided by the Public Works Ministry, Minister Edghill who delivered the feature address, lauded the new addition, emphasizing that it aligns with President Irfaan Ali’s goal of ensuring Guyana’s aviation capacity is the best within the region, while promoting safety and meeting international competitiveness in comfort. He added that the government is simultaneously building out the necessary infrastructure within the hinterland to accommodate more aircraft like the Technam P2012 and helicopters. This expansion also includes improved policies.

“So it’s legislation, capacity building, it is the acquisition of new aircraft, and it is advancing safety and security,” he said. This publication understands that the new WiFi and air-conditioned aircraft, has been dubbed as the beginning of the advancement of the local aviation landscape. According to the ministry, the minister informed also that since January 2021 to date, the aviation industry and registry have recorded the addition of 13 new aircraft. The ministry added that the new Technam P2012 aircraft’s navigational systems and high-speed twin engines allow it to pilot the various terrains and conditions in the hinterland.

Meanwhile, providing brief remarks was Captain Gouveia Jr. who said with the acquisition of the aircraft will allow Roraima Airways to innovate and redefine what is possible in the Caribbean and domestic aviation. He told the gathering that Roraima Airways has never been content just to follow and by heritage  him and his brother are pacesetters and are always looking for ways to innovate and raise the bar.
