GUYANA - The Rotary Club of Stabroek, Georgetown recently installed its new President and Board of Directors for year 2025-2026, at its installation ceremony.
The new President is Dr. Karen Gordon-Boyle, and the board comprises Immediate Past President, Marva Benjamin who had a two-year presidency term, President-Elect Delroy Carrington, Secretary Past Assistant Governor Luana Falconer, Treasurer Patricia Plummer and Directors, Grace McCalman, Sharon Sue-Hang-Baksh, Delroy Carrington, Carlotta Boodie and Kristal Abrams.
Outgoing President, Marva Benjamin in her presentation highlighted the clubs’ achievements under the Rotary Theme – “The Magic of Rotary.” “We’ve seen the magic in every smiling child who participated in our empowering community programmes. We’ve seen it in the faces of the children who benefitted from our many youth initiatives and in every moment when we brought light and dignity to someone’s life. We saw it when strangers became collaborating partners, and collaborating partners that became friends — all working toward a shared vision of service above self,” she said.
Initiatives such as an electronic research library installed at the St. Joseph High School, an education fair held in Albouystown with focus on childhood obesity prevention, CAMP BRO and GLOW empowering workshop for young boys and girls in collaboration with Peace Corp Guyana, Look at Me Now workshop for teenaged girls, Indigenous language translation project to address the preservation of spoken Amerindian language being developed in collaboration with the Brain Street Group, medical outreaches, peace poles planting, a Peace Poster Competition held in collaboration with Nextech Inc and the recently chartered Interact Club at the St. George’s School of Science together with environmental projects were some of the many completed over the past Rotary year. President Marva Benjamin graciously acknowledged the support and sponsorship received from ExxonMobil Guyana, DDL, Eureka Labs, Brain Street, Peace Corps Guyana, Optique Vision Care, CARICOM Secretariat, Banks DIH, Blue Water Shipping Inc and Nextech Inc. She also thanked her Board and club members for their invaluable contributions. “Every achievement was built on teamwork, trust, and a shared commitment to making a difference,” she said.
