PARAMARIBO - The Salvation Army recently distributed parcels in the districts Marowijne and Wanica South East for the first time ever.

50 parcels were given to the district commissioner’s offices of these two districts. These parcels are part of the 500 parcels that were donated by a generous donor. The remaining 400 parcels were handed out to the less fortunate at the main office of the Salvation Army which is located in Paramaribo.
Guillermo Demon, Public Relations Officer at the Salvation Army, explained that the organization chose to give most of the parcels to senior citizens. A senior citizen who received a parcel expressed her joy and gratitude before explaining that she did not manage to get a parcel before Christmas but that she got the message about the second distribution. “I ask the Lord to keep supporting this organization so that they can keep making people happy with a Christmas parcel in the future.
Demon pointed out that “the Salvation Army is very grateful to the donor for this gesture.” On December 18th the Salvation Army made 600 people in Paramaribo happy with a Christmas parcel. Each parcel contained essential products such as rice, cooking oil, yellow peas, flour, sardines, sugar, butter, brown beans, tea, oats, noodles, powdered milk and biscuits.
