the hinterland will have to leave for the hinterland before the start of October.  Antonius Pokie, an official from the Organization for Bus and Boat Owners in Suriname (OBS), announced that the preparations for the transportation of teachers to the hinterland have been made. According to Pokie, the transportation of teachers to the hinterland will commence in September 28th. Police made it clear that the transporters are ready to take the teachers to their stations on time. “Everything is ready. The transporters are ready to transport the teachers,” said Pokie. The teachers who are stationed in the hinterland expressed relief and explained that they want to prepare for the start of their lessons. “We are glad that this school year the schools in Paramaribo as well as in the hinterland can start on October 1st,” said several teachers. The teachers have not forgotten that the situation was quite different last year. Last year the teachers were taken to their stations at a later date because of the strike of the transporters.
