They explained that they have to work under unsanitary conditions and that this not only has a negative influence on their wellbeing and that of the pupils but that it also discourages the pupils. “It disheartens pupils when they have to sit in a dirty classroom,” a concerned teacher said. Principals also expressed their frustration regarding the issues. The nation’s educators are therefore urging the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture to hire more cleaning ladies because a clean school environment boosts their performance and that of the pupils. “We hope that the ministry will take measures soon. Our children deserve better,” a principal said.
