stole $13.1 million, property of Sylvia Thomas. The robbery occurred at approximately 05:30h on Tuesday. Police have since issued a wanted bulletin for Rakameem Benowen Nicholas. Nicholas, whose last known address is 200 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, is attached to Castle Security.
Two supervisors, 21-year-old Raywat Sankar and a 27-year-old female were on duty at the time of the robbery. The suspect was armed with a 9mm pistol and 17 rounds which belonged to the security service. “Preliminary investigation revealed that on the date and time mentioned, the 21-year-old supervisor at Fantasy Game Lounge, Raywat Sankar, exited the cashier area to assist the 27-year-old female floor supervisor in cleaning the gaming area since no customer was there at the time,” police said. They added that the suspect approached Sankar and the floor supervisor, took out the firearm, pointed it in their direction, and then discharged a round in the air, demanding that Sankar open the electronic door to the cashier area.
Sankar complied and the suspect then ordered him and the female supervisor into the cashier’s room and further instructed Sankar to open the vault and place all the cash into a garbage basket, after which he left the building with the cash. “CCTV cameras at the Giftland mall captured the suspect walking out of the Giftland access road, then turning west on the Railway Embankment, and stopping a motorcar (PZZ 5690), which drove away in a western direction,” police noted. One 9mm spent shell was recovered from the scene. Police attempted to locate the suspect but there were unsuccessful, his house was searched and no cash was found. Efforts are also being made to locate the car involved as the investigation continues. (Kaieteur News)
