JAMAICA - For the first time in 22 years, a song featuring Jamaicans has taken over the #1 spot on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart.
Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix by MOLIY featuring Jamaicans Silent Addy, Skillibeng and Shenseea, moves up to #1 on this week’s chart.
This is the third Billboard chart that the song has topped, since its release in February. The Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix previously topped Billboard’s United States (US) Afrobeats Songs and US World Digital Song Sales charts. The last Jamaican to reach #1 on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart was Sean Paul. On September 27, 2003, he began a seven-week stint in the #1 spot with the song Baby Boy, a collaboration with Beyonce. Other Jamaicans who have charted on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart include Skip Marley, Diana King, Shaggy and Shabba Ranks. (Jamica Observer)
