a location where people abandon their unwanted pets. A local resident pointed out that there has been a visible increase in the number of stray dogs in the last couple of months. “Yes, they dump many dogs here. It is a nuisance and an inconvenience. Whenever I can can I give them food because I find it was to see them looking for food but it becomes an annoyance. They enter my yard and rip my garbage bags open before leaving the garbage all over the yard. They also poop and pee everywhere. You cannot really blame the animals because they do not know any better,” said the resident. Local residents explained that the animals are often hungry, scared and looking for food and shelter which is why they roam the street and seek shelter at homes where people who pity them give them food. Many local residents condemned the fact that people dump their pets and pointed out that this is an alarming development that poses a threat to the public health and traffic safety. Stray dogs unexpectedly cross the street thereby causing traffic accidents. The residents also explained that these stray dogs have not been neutered which means that they could keep reproducing thereby causing the problem to get bigger. They want the dumping of animals to become punishable by law so that perpetrators could be given hefty fines and even face prosecution.
