PARAMARIBO - Students from Christus Koning School returned to school again last Tuesday. Meanwhile this Roman Catholic school for secondary...

education at junior level has already started with the repairs of the roof that was blown away about two weeks ago by strong gusts of wind.
The director of the Roman Catholic Education (RKBO), Annie Baidjnath Panday, told Times of Suriname that the section of the roof that had been blown away has been renovated. At a later phase the other section of the roof will also be renovated. On October 22nd a small number of students started attending classes again. These students are reportedly in the 11th grade and the 12th grade. A teacher told Times of Suriname that the students will not be accommodated in the school building yet but at schools that are located in the vicinity. Several parents expressed relief when they heard that their child could return to school. They hope that the teachers will not give the students too many lessons to study in a short period just to make up for lost time.
The school reportedly informed the parents that the people who are tasked with fixing the roof realized that it would be better to replace the entire roof that was constructed many years ago. This would not only be a safe and sustainable solution but it would also give the school a fresh look. The school also reminded parents that the school will celebrate its 69th anniversary this Friday. Next year the school will celebrate its 70th anniversary. This will be a perfect opportunity to organize something that will be remembered for a long time. The school therefore urges parents to keep giving donations.
