went missing on Friday, August 28th. According to the police, 27-year-old Siegiello Lorenzo van Dalen and 28-year-old Derryl Danillo Bont left their home that day in a white Toyota Vitz with license plate number PM 01-14 and went to Nickerie. The next day so on Saturday, August 29th, the men went to the Clara sluice where they left their car. It is suspected that they took a boat to cross the Corantijn River in order to reach neighboring Guyananbetween 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. When they arrived in Guyana they probably got into a black taxi. The Capital Crimes Division of the Police Force Suriname (KPS) has reportedly launched an investigation to find these missing persons. Several people have already been questioned in Paramaribo as well as in Nickerie. The police are urging people who have information about these men to share this information with them. This case has also been discussed in parliament. MP Ebu Jones (NDP) asked parliament to address the issue. Every day the relatives of Bont are asking people for help via social media. MP Jones asked Foreign Affairs Minister Melvin Bouva which role his ministry could play in the search for the missing Surinamese nationals. He made it clear that “it is important to get the Guyanese authorities involved because it is suspected that the men left for Guyana.”
