PARAMARIBO – A 23-year-old male suspect was arrested on December 18th by a police unit from the Latour Police Station that was carrying out surveillance.

The police officers spotted a group of men standing in front of a building in the Badoellaweg. The men were drinking alcohol and playing loud music. A police officer exited the patrol car and instructed the men to turn the music down. He spotted the male suspect, K.K., throwing something under a car so he asked them what he was trying to hide. K.K. refused to answer so the police officers decided to look under the vehicle and found a gun and bullets. K.K. could not explain where he got the gun and he also could not produce a gun permit so the police arrested him for possession of an illegal gun and they also confiscated the gun and the bullets. The suspect is currently in jail awaiting trial. The investigation is ongoing.
