arrested three suspects after a raid in a house located in the Kashmirstraat. Reports indicate that two Cuban women and a male Surinamese national were taken into police custody after the police had received information regarding a suspected case of human trafficking and smuggling. The TIP officers came across multiple victims during the raid that was carried out in association with RBTP and CIU. The victims who were taken to the shelter of the TIP told investigators that they were brought to Suriname before being forced to work as prostitutes in a nightclub located in Paramaribo-North. The victims also claimed that they were presented with a debt which they had to pay off by working in the nightclub. According to the victims, their freedom was restricted while the suspects took all of their income. The investigation is ongoing.
