PARAMARIBO - Police officers from the Capital Crimes Division arrested five suspects for their alleged involvement in the deadly armed robbery that took place in the Goedezorgweg...

and which claimed the life of a policeman. One of the suspects was arrested at the crime scene with a gunshot wound. The suspect identified as M.B. alias Snelle was reportedly in possession of an illegal firearm. Shortly after the deadly armed robbery another suspect namely F.P. showed up at the Emergency Room of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) with a gunshot wound. The suspect who also goes by an alias namely Trouble denied any involvement in the deadly armed robbery and claimed that he himself was targeted in a separate armed robbery. The police reportedly arrested R.A. who works as a taxi driver and who had also been the getaway driver of the armed robbery. Investigators zeroed in on him after having watched security footage. Another suspect namely J.A. was summoned to the police station. When he showed up at the police station he was taken into police custody. D.W. the man who lives in the house that was targeted and who had opened fire on the armed robbery was also arrested for illegal possession of a firearm. The police confiscated the gun and the bullets. After having been questioned, D.W. was allowed to return home.
MB, FP, RA and JA are currently in jail awaiting trial. The investigation is ongoing. The police are asking anyone with information about the armed robbery to share this information with the Capital Crimes Division of the Police Force Suriname (KPS) so that other people who were also involved can also be arrested.
