This change was triggered by an incident that took place in parliament last week when MP Natalie Amatmohamed (VHP) wanted to talk about imposing an important ban on certain chemicals that are used by farmers. Members of the coalition objected and pointed out that she had not signed the attendance list and therefore did not have the right to speak as she was officially absent. “If you have not signed the list, it means that you are not present during the session”, said MP Steven Reyme (A20). One noticeable fact is that the current members of the coalition also used the same strategy when they were in de opposition which means that they also intervened even though they had not signed the attendance list.
