PARAMARIBO – The local entrepreneurs who deliver food to the jail houses have made it clear that the government has one week to pay all of the bills.

If the government fails to make the payments, the delivery of food to jail houses will no longer be guaranteed. The local entrepreneurs explained that they have provided their services for many months but that they do not get paid on time. One of the entrepreneurs pointed out that he and his colleagues have not received payment for the past 8 months. The entrepreneurs made it clear that the report that claims that they received payment a month ago is not true. The minister of Finance and Planning indicated that the money has already been deposited but an entrepreneur pointed out that that they still have not seen any money in their bank accounts and that he was told that the paperwork must be taken care of. The entrepreneurs are puzzled by the fact that they have to wait this long. One of the entrepreneurs explained that he borrowed about SRD 2 million to make the deliveries and that he is on the brink of bankruptcy.
