MEERZORG – Police officers from the Meerzorg Police Station recently arrested a man who is the prime suspect in a hit-and-run case.

The suspect, RN, allegedly ran his ex-girlfriend and her male neighbor over with his car on the Road to Peperpot. On Sunday, May 31st the police received a call about a collision between a car and a moped in the Road to Peperpot. The accident left two people injured. The driver of the car reportedly fled the scene after the accident. Investigators found out that the car that was involved in the hit and run most likely belongs to the ex-boyfriend of the woman. The woman had told the police that she suspected that the collision was not an accident but a deliberate act because shortly before the ‘accident’ her ex-boyfriend had been to her house in the same car. Both victims are Cubans. The police reportedly arrested the suspect at his house located in Meerzorg on June 4th. During the interrogation the suspect confessed to having run his ex-girlfriend and her neighbor over with his car. But he claimed that it really was an accident. The suspect has reportedly been charged with suspicion of murder, attempted manslaughter, premeditated aggravated assault and assault. The vehicle that was used in the hit-and-run still has not been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
