NICKERIE - The Police Force Suriname (KPS) recently announced that Operation Delta Force that is being carried out in the Nickerie District has already yielded tangible results in the nation’s rice district.
Regional Police Chief Jeffrey van Cooten told Times of Suriname that security has also been beefed up at the border. Reports indicate that the police raided several locations recently and that road blocks were placed at strategic locations and that the police also focused on traffic surveillance to maintain law and order. During this operation the police also removed youths from the streets and they also responded to noise complaints. A growing number of police units will be visible, especially given the fact that the elections are just a few weeks away. Drivers are being urged to stick to the traffic laws and to have all the necessary papers with them for when they get pulled over at a road block. Operation Delta Force will be concluded after the elections of May 25th, 2025.
