TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Friday said that it had seized marijuana worth more than one million Trinidad and Tobago dollars after
arresting a 25-year-old man at the Scarborough Port on Thursday. “This successful drug seizure is a testament to the teamwork and … the hard work and dedication of our officers in Tobago,” said Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, adding “success for the TTPS is success for the entire country and every victory like this strengthens the safety and security of our nation”. Police said that the compressed cannabis was found after they intercepted the 25-year-old man after days of surveillance at the port. They said officers searched the vehicle and discovered a hidden compartment in the trunk designed to resemble a standard gas tank. “Upon closer inspection the team found 61 packets of compressed cannabis, weighing approximately 33 kilograms, concealed in the compartment. The street value of the narcotics is estimated at TTD$1,152,000.” The police said the investigations are ongoing. (Jamaica Gleaner)
